Pincushion Flower

Scabiosa caucasica

Stems protrude

beyond curved

surface of flower head, giving illusion of pins stuck into a cushion. They make excellent cut

flowers.  Blooms

begin in midsummer and continue well into late fall if dead

flowers are cut off regularly. Grows 2 feet high and 1-2 feet wide, flowers are 2-3 inches across in

lavender-blue with fringed rays.

 

Likes full sun and moderate to regular water.
