Broadly rounded deciduous tree or large shrub to 40 feet.  The oval leaves are dark green and smooth with paler undersides and hairs along the veins.  Excellent, multi-trunk, with white flowers.  “Star” type blooms open to 3-5” before the leaves.  Highly

desirable.  Needs moist, well drained acidic soil.
